2/15/08 –Environmentalist Group Says River Clean-Up “Could Be A Relative Success”

Skidmore, Ohio -- According to Lori Appleman, representative for Watching Out For Water (W.O.W.), BiggCo “is making an attempt” to clean up pollution in the Kayanaka River.

After a court injunction and takeover by the EPA, BiggCo is now working with the community to bring back its sparkling Kayanaka.

BiggCo regrets the years of appeals. However, the BiggCo chemical facility in question shares the river with several other businesses, including a bakery. BiggCo wanted to rule out that the foaming of the river wasn’t due to yeast run-off.

Nor was BiggCo was convinced the bright green, milky quality of the water was due to ammonia, benzene, and permanganate contamination, as alleged. It could easily have been a St. Patrick’s day prank by some teenagers.

Additionally, tests done by an independent BiggCo facility revealed safe levels of water in all their samples.

BiggCo accepts responsibility, and as Lori puts it, “if the clean-up is careful and doesn’t lose steam, the river may be usable for non-immersive recreation in ten to fifteen years.”
